The Impact of Drugs on Your Libido

No matter which way you slice it, the United States is a country that loves its mind altering substances. From drinks after work with friends to trips to the drug store to fill all those prescriptions, our drug use is off the charts and there is almost no way to really tell what these substances do to our bodies. Often times, drugs are used to increase female libido, but they can have the opposite effect, as well. Here are just a few of the most common drugs that people use on a regular basis and the impact they can have on our sex drives.

Illegal drugs

It can be said now with absolute certainty: the war on drugs was an abject failure. America’s prisons are chock full of drug offenders and new prisons are being built to house even more, all the while drugs flow into the US and are made here, as well. What makes matters worse, many illegal drugs such as ecstasy, crystal meth, cocaine and even marijuana are used as party drugs, often times with the sole intent of leading to sex.  Repeated use of these drugs can cause a litany of both short term and long term health problems that can cause untold damage to the human body.

Prescription drugs

While most people know that the abuse of illegal drugs can cause a decrease in sex drive, it is the use of prescription drugs that is the real epidemic in the United States. Drug companies fast track their latest creation so it can get past the FDA and into the bodies of citizens without nearly as much testing as should be in place. Many of today’s prescription drugs mention the fact that they can be a drag on your sex drive, but so many people take so many different drugs, it is the combinations that even the most concerned pharmacist can overlook and endanger the lives of his or her patients. If you are searching for a female libido enhancer, you may want to reduce the amount of prescription drugs you are taking.

Smoking

From illegal drugs to legal drugs to drugs you can buy at the local corner store. The effects of smoking on the human body have been well documented, but it hasn’t stopped millions of people from coast to coast from lighting up every chance they get. The many addictive substances in cigarettes can have a wide range of effects on the human body. We know about the lung cancer, the coughing and the yellowing of the skin, but a negative effect on sex drives is also very common, albeit underreported.

Alcohol

While many people drink alcohol when they have something to celebrate, the drug actually acts as a depressant on the body, which can make everything from driving a car to getting turned on difficult. Prolonged abuse can wreck marriages, lives and libidos completely. The next time you think of using alcohol as a female libido enhancer, don’t. As you can see, the use of drugs and alcohol has almost a universally negative effect on our sex drives and our lives. Please use with caution or, better yet, don’t use at all.
